The Columbus (Ohio) Symphony with Music Director Rossen Milanov celebrates its 75th anniversary tomorrow night (10/28) with its first appearance at Carnegie Hall since 2001. They bring with them a pair of new works, including The Mysteries by Gregory Spears, a major new work that received its world premiere last Friday in Columbus. Then, Bass-baritone Davóne Tines performs Concerto No. 2: ANTHEM, a piece he created in collaboration with poet Mahogany L. Browne and composers Michael Schachter, Caroline Shaw, and Tyshawn Sorey that explores competing visions of America by reimagining the national anthem and other traditional American songs.
The program also includes Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.
Tickets and info on Carnegie’s website. Watch Davóne Tines speak about ANTHEM below.
