After falling in the mud, ripping my jeans, and nearly losing my water-soaked camera to the elements, I was about to pack it in when L.A.'s Health made their way onto the tiny Blue stage. Having high expectations after their mind-blowing show at the Pool Parties this past summer, they did not disappoint: with strobe and spotlights providing the visual stimuli, they unleashed a full-on assault on the senses, combining thrashing guitars with a steady stream of electronic blips and beats that made me shudder. Watching all of this from the photo pit, I felt I was witnessing something almost unspeakable: a great convergence of the two central pillars of contemporary rock, giving birth in a blast furnace. Awe and wonder.
