Wild Cub at Bowery Ballroom

Wild Cub's Keegan DeWitt said he'd dreamed of selling out Bowery Ballroom—so it must have been especially gratifying when he did so on a Tuesday, of all days, and a cold one at that. You never would have known it from the crowd, though, which was dancing along like it was the weekend.

Could you blame them? The Nashville-based quintet, playing music from their recent debut album, Youth, delivered synthy pop-rock with great hooks and driving beats that just seemed to demand movement. The crowd was simply doing its part.

DeWitt seemed genuinely overwhelmed by the audience reaction; he showed his gratitude in nearly every song, playing with a passion expressed in his every move—from his spirited choruses to his untethered snare-drum interludes. Supporting DeWitt were multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Bullock, drummer Dabney Morris, bassist Harry West, and keyboardist and synthetist Eric Wilson.
