Tonight: Tully Scope

Tully-Scope-Festival1Yet another new entry to the NYC music calendar kicks off tonight with Lincoln Center's inaugural Tully Scope Festival: a three-week, multi-disciplinary series of concerts named for the host venue, Alice Tully Hall. The festival is yet another bloom of inspiration from Lincoln Center's VP of Programming Jane Moss, who made all kinds of waves this past fall with the White Light Festival.

While this festival may be slightly smaller than White Light in scope and ambition, it seems to be custom-built for tasting: buy one ticket at full price ($45-$75) and all other concerts are only $20. And, there's quite a menu to choose from: everything from Manny Ax playing Schubert, to Tyondai Braxton (son of Anthony and Battles lead man) performing an original composition called Central Market with the Wordless Music Orchestra. 

The festival kicks off tonight with a free 6pm performance by the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) of Nathan Davis's Bells in Alice Tullly's grand foyer (free admission.) followed by a concert featuring works by Webern, Xenakis, and Morton Feldman.  

And, yes, there will be free prosecco served afterward. See you tonight.
