The Wood Brothers Play Irving Plaza

On Thursday night, The Wood Brothers played to a 1,000-plus crowd at Irving Plaza. Playing their own music via a record player on stage, the band showed full control over the crowd from the start, setting the mood for the rest of the night.

The show marked the Brothers' first time playing at Irving Plaza, and they pleased the crowd by playing not only songs of their most recent album, The Muse, but from throughout their discography. At one point, brothers Chris (upright bass) and Oliver (vocals, guitar), along with percussionist Jano Rix and opening act Chris Kasper, all gathered around one mic in the center of the stage to play two extremely intimate songs. Talk about crowd control.

For an encore, the Brothers decided to go outside of their comfort zone by playing Michael Jackson's "Pretty Young Thing," which came off much better than you might think. One thing is for sure: The Wood Brothers do not disappoint.
