The National are headlining a run of six sold out shows this week at the Beacon Theatre, with a wide range of headliners including eveyone from Wye Oak (Thurs.) and My Brightest Diamond (Fri.) to So Percussion. Even if you've seen them a bunch before (as I have), this is a special event in the NYC Concert Calendar.
As such, I saw opening night last night in the beautifully-restored Beacon, which I haven't had the chance to visit in over a decade. From the second row, I saw the band perform almost all of High Violet, as well as favorites off of Alligator and Boxer. After nearly 90 minutes, Matt Berninger descended into the audience, surfing over the orchestra seats halfway into the crowd. The place went wild.
Hope you've got your's. Videos and setlist below; pics on the photo page.
