More than 1,100 souls trudged their way through the snow last night to the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in South Brooklyn to hear ambient duo Stars of the Lid perform their first NYC show in four years. (It's been more than five years since we last saw them at the last Wordless Music show at the Good Shepherd Faith Church on the Upper West Side.)
This time around, SOTL were joined by the Wordless Music Orchestra, adding a whole other level of heaviness and awesomeness to their drone-laden sound. For a church of such soaring dimensions, the sound was clear and bounce-free, letting us all sit back and bask in the harmonic grandeur, accompanied by Luke Savisky's mesmerizing projections.
