I'm back at Coney Island today for the Siren Festival: the Village Voice's annual boardwalk mix of emerging and established indie rock, which they've been putting on each year since 2001. It hasn't always been the most even of draws, but you can always count on at least one or two new discoveries.
First up on the Main Stage today is Micachu and the Shapes: a bunch of kids from London – none of whom look older than 18 – with a strange, spiky sound that sounds closer to free improv than rock. A good start.
C'mon out: it's free and the sun feels great. (More pics below.)
