Quiet Time

I didn’t make it up to Williamstown till 1:30 this morning, but it was worth it for the trip back to Falcon Ridge last night, where they kept the party going well past midnight. I bumped back and forth between the Main Stage – which had John Gorka, Patty Larkin and other stars of the folk music circuit – and the dance tent, where Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience jammed like it was Mardi Gras. At one point, a middle-aged woman in a flowing skirt asked me to waltz with her; I did so badly (and happily.)

This afternoon, I’ll be taking a break from music to see Michael Grief’s production of “Three Sisters” at the Williamstown Theater Festival in town. That’s followed by the seventh annual Bang On a Can Summer Marathon at nearby Mass MoCA, with minimalism godfather Terry Riley in the house. Special treat: an hour of Frank Zappa to close out the show. Quiet Time
