After catching the Rangers at MSG on Monday, my friend Molly and I headed to the LES for a musical nightcap. After hearing a pleasant – if prosaic – singer-songwriter at Rockwood Music Hall, we wandered over to Cake Shop, where a trio calling themselves Extreme Violence (no website) unleashed a sonic squall, filling the basement with noise and rapture. Nothing like a good ear-cleaning to start the week.
