Ljova and his friends Romashka, the Tall Tall Trees, the PubliQuartet, Johnny Gandelsman (of Brooklyn Rider), Sarah Natochenny and Ingrid Gordon all made their way uptown last night to Lincoln Center's David Rubernstein Auditorium for a free concert celebrating the release of his new album Lost In Kino. It was a packed house by the time I arrrived, with the band(s) in full swing while excerpts of some of Ljova's recent film scores (featured on Kino) played above the stage. Nothing like a little Eastern European cartoon music to escape from the holiday shopping hordes.
