Get out your Metrocards: on June 21 – the summer solstice – NYC will play host to the first annual Make Music New York, offering free, live performances in public spaces around all five boroughs. The event is the latest outpost of France’s FΓͺte de la Musique, first held 25 years ago in Paris and now happening simultaneously in 300 cities around the world. Amateurs as well as professionals are invited to participate: all you need to do is register. At the moment, they have well over 1,000 musicians participating in all genres, including opera, chamber, pop, jazz, electronica, hip-hop, and the ever-popular "Unclassifiable." Below is a partial view of what we’re in for.

I checked out the link above for the ‘Make Music NY’ schedule. I put in ‘Upper West Side’ (my neighborhood) and in the category I chose ‘other’. Only one performance came up – the ‘Saw Lady’ (http://www.SawLady.com ) will play the musical saw on Amsterdam Avenue between 104th & 105th streets from 1-4PM. Now that’s different! Not something you see/hear every day π Pretty cool – thanks for the link info.
