I'm not exactly sure what Pierre-Laurent Aimard is trying to prove at Zankel tonight by alternating the even, contrapuntal tones of Bach with Elliott Carter's terrifying helter-skelter, but the contrast, at least, is pretty cool. What's not so cool listening is having to listen to the entire first half from the lobby, just for being ten minutes late. C'mon Carnegie: not everyone clops their heels trudging down the stairs.Counterpoint
