They switched the order up on me, so I only caught the tail end of John Zorn’s “Cobra” at Issue Project Room’s outdoor show tonight at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The Theremin Society, which followed, felt long and self-indulgent. But Jonathan Kane and his band February are turning shit up now with a rock piece called “Curl” that sounds a lot like one of Rhys Chatham’s repeating riffs. Fortunately for us, the deafening wail has air to breathe here…
