Walking back to the car, we pass by a poster for something called the Brooklyn Country Cookout, with an arrow pointing towards someone's house one block west of Congress. We arrive just as The Defibulators start up their alt-country set in someone's front yard, with free beer and barbecue to go with the free-spirited lyrics. (Other bands on the bill include The Dixons and Alex Friedman and the Other Failures.) I know we can see these guys any time we want back home, but hearing them here just feels special. Sort of like seeing a bunch of minor leaguers play Yankee Stadium. (More pics below.)
