Sonar By Day Friday: Astrud and the Brossa Collective

What do you get when you cross a veteran Barcelona pop band with a chamber group made up of violin, cello, chimes, accordion and hurdy-gurdy? A joyous sing-along with just enough dissonance and complexity to keep things from becoming overly-sentimental. Astrud and the Collectiu Brossa (SonarHall) remind me of ACME's collaborations with, Craig Wedren, with a bit less seriousness and a lot more Spanish brio. Absolutely infectious – with music like this, its no wonder Barcas seem so all-the-time happy. IMG00118-20110617-1728.jpg
