Preview: Winter Jazzfest 2014

Winter jazzfest 2013

Hard to believe, but this is the tenth year for the Winter Jazzfest: the annual wall-to-wall smorgasbord of jazz, fusion, and other "creative music." (Still trying to figure out what that is, exactly.)

This year, Jazzfest expands to a full week of activities, starting with a kickoff show Tuesday night at LPR with Bobby Previte, John Medeski, Nels Cline, So Percussion, and others. (Check out this video of Previte making like Harry Partch at the Sixpoint Brewery.) A full festival pass—including the two-day marathon on Friday/Saturday that features over 90 acts—can be had for the ridiculously low price of $95; other passes and individual tickets also available on the festival's website.
