There are lots of great interviews with Lorin Maazel online, but this one – shot by the Philharmonia Orchestra while riding the London Eye – gets into his life as a composer. In one amusing anecdote, Maazel describes how he finished his Music for Flute and Orchestra in the Salzburg post office. "They stayed open an hour later in order for me to finish the piece," he chuckles, "which is a credit to just how musical the Austrians are!"
