Over 70 groundbreaking musicians, from around the world, come together to give shape to new sounds during this three-day, super-mix of experimental music.
Bang on a Can LOUD Weekend features three days of immersive music experiences set within the context of MASS MoCA’s vast galleries, performing arts stages and outdoor spaces nestled among the Berkshires mountains. LOUD Weekend is the culminating event of the twenty-fourth annual Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival at MASS MoCA, a three-week artist residency for innovative composers and performers selected from an international roster of artists.

Carnegie Hall’s NYO Jazz is a big band that features some of the best teen jazz players from across the United States. Directed by trumpeter and bandleader Kris Johnson in his Carnegie Hall debut, the band is joined by revered NEA Jazz Master Dee Dee Bridgewater who returns as a special guest vocalist. The performance will include big-band gems and jazz standards; genre-crossing contemporary works, including a new Carnegie Hall commission by Jihye Lee; and an arrangement by NYO Jazz alum Skylar Tang.

The violinist, singer, songwriter, and composer Andrew Bird has stretched the musical boundaries of folk in an eclectic career that spans 18 albums, developing a multi-layered sound with diverse instrumentation. His most defining work is arguably 2005’s The Mysterious Production of Eggs, which demonstrated an avant-pop sophistication with a mastery of elaborate loops, multi-tracked violin, and his remarkable prowess as a whistler. Bird has headlined shows at iconic venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and Red Rocks Amphitheatre, but he’ll celebrate the 20th anniversary of that record at SummerStage in Central Park with the Wordless Music Orchestra, performing the record for the first time in its entirety alongside a full orchestra, followed by a suite of fan-favorites from his nearly 30-year repertoire.

+Mary Hood- is an indie folk/rock singer/songwriter who enjoys incorporating raw emotion and authentic storytelling into dreamlike whimsy.
They are celebrating their first collaborative full band EP release “Simple Machines” with Griffin Jennings(guitar), Billy coughlin(drums), Brian hart(bass), and guest musician- Toni Batey on saxophone. The band has gone in different directions, but invites everyone to celebrate the release, share, and listen because it is something that they all put a lot of work into and are very proud of!!

+Dead Drops- are a three-piece garage rock outfit from all over new york state. Forming out of the ashes different bands from the hudson vally, The Dead Drops are now under the foresight of their frontmann Matt Muller who has moved their headquarters to Brooklyn, NY. Drawing infulince from the White Stripes, Nirvana and The Drones, The Dead Drops are here to bring a ripping anolog sound to an increasingly digital world. The bands chemistry and rousing proformances are infamous in the region, so don't miss your chance to see The Dead Drops live!

+Todd- (the band) is a new-gen emo project fueled by vulnerability and curiosity. The four-piece breathes new life to songs that started with nothing more than an acoustic guitar and a single voice. Todd is not so much a person as it is a state of mind: a willingness to shed old skin to create something authentic. With equal parts catharsis and rage, the band transforms intimate songwriting into explosive arrangements for crowds to scream along to. Production of their debut EP, “Bad Luck” has just wrapped, and Todd is preparing to bring these songs into the world. Keep an eye out for release announcements - or better yet, get to a show and hear them live first.

esperanza spalding in collaboration with dancer, theater and filmmaker Kayla Farrish, presents an evening of new dance and music – crafted live and in real time.  

Growing from spalding’s years of study and experimentation around how to re-merge “jazz” music & dance, and Farrish’s multi-disciplinary work of transforming feeling, story, and humanity through dance, this is a unique first public sharing of their creative collaboration.

The ensemble of three musicians and three dancers has been in workshop throughout 2026, developing shared grammar and vocabulary to musically and movementally compose a story, engage in improvisational dialogue, and translate the vibrant energies, sensations, and ideas coursing between, within, and around them. Alchemizing and manifesting what could be, through and with one another…

Philadelphia Orchestra Music and Artistic Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin returns to SPAC to anchor the 60th anniversary season with the return of the piece that opened the Orchestra’s first season at SPAC in 1966, Beethoven’s iconic Ninth Symphony, featuring a star-studded cast of soloists—soprano Leah Hawkins, mezzo-soprano J’Nai Bridges, tenor Issachah Savage, and bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green — joined by Albany Pro Musica.

The evening opens with the SPAC premiere of William Grant Still’s rarely performed Wood Notes, a pastoral suite inspired by the American South and the poetry of Joseph Mitchell Pilcher. This performance continues SPAC’s and the Orchestra’s ongoing commitment to restoring and presenting works by underrepresented composers.

Laurie Anderson presents a drone-based sonic experience utilizing guitars from her late husband Lou Reed’s collection. The installation, performed by Reed's former guitar tech, Stewart Hurwood, places the instruments in an arrangement against a group of amplifiers so that their tuned feedback creates an enveloping drone of harmonics that shifts and changes, depending on the audience's location. A roster of guest artists, curated by Anderson, will rotate every hour.

Taiwanese Waves is celebrating its 10th anniversary by showcasing a diverse lineup of artists from across the musical spectrum. This year’s program includes a trio of R&B and hip-hop acts: 9m88 (pronounced “Jo-m-Baba”), a jazzy singer-songwriter with strong R&B, neo-soul, and hip-hop influences; ØZI, a singer-songwriter and rapper known for blending urban American styles with Mandopop; and YELLOW 黃宣, the fashion-forward avant pop artist with a flair for the dramatic. You’re likely to hear some of their collaborations, such as ØZI and 9m88’s song “Black Out,” or the 9m88 and YELLOW (黃宣) single “怪天氣Strange Weather.” They’re joined by Chance Emerson, a relative of Ralph Waldo Emerson born in Taiwan to a Taiwanese mother and American father and a singer-songwriter who explores the human condition with humor and empathy; Mong Tong, Taiwanese brothers who channel Southeast Asian mythology and folklore through the hypnotic rhythms and ethereal melodies of ‘60s and ‘70s psychedelic music; and a DJ set from Chinatown Records, the archival project from DJ and historian yiuyiu 瑶瑶 that stewards more than 30 distinct vinyl, CD, and cassette collections inherited from her family & neighbors, spanning nearly 100 years of Chinese music and beyond.
