Anyone with six hours to spare today would do well to tune into 96.3 FM for the Met’s broadcast of Richard Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg, starring Johan Botha as Walter and the incomparable James Morris (pictured) as Hans Sachs. I’ve seen (some would say endured) this opera twice at the Met, and each time I was overwhelmed by the experience. If you can’t manage the whole thing, try to tune in around four for the monumental third act. James Levine conducts.
