More good music making it’s way to Brooklyn: the 9th annual MATA Festival of New Music will be held next week at the Brooklyn Lyceum. MATA was founded in 1996 by composers Philip Glass, Lisa Bielawa and Eleonor Sandresky to help support young composers in their early careers. The festival features 19 composers and 11 premieres, and starts off with a daytime Family Concert that features an "instrument petting zoo." The composers are flying in from all over the world to be here; the least you can do is hop on the R train.
