Yet another innovation from Mr. Gelb at the Met: flat screen TV’s in the lobby. This isn’t really anything new – I watched a good bit of a Robert Wilson production of Magic Flute in the lobby of Paris’ Opera de la Bastille in 1999 – but what’s cool about these TV’s are that they’re in HD. The sound kinda sucked, but hey, if you want the whole package, go pay your $20 like everyone else.
Tonight, I caught the Prelude from this season’s final performance of Die Meistersinger, which I heard on Saturday. I joked with someone after that had I known about the TV’s, I would have brought a folding chair. Or a cot.
