Cara Buckley in today’s Times writes about the selection of sirens available to today’s NYPD officers. Her article, entitled, "Earsplitting Symphony, With the Maestro in Blue" profiles a highway patrol officer, Spiros Kornis, who plays the sirens on his dashboard like a Pan flute. Newest of the lot: "The Rumbler", which sounds like a mini-earthquake. Others include: "The Yelp", "The Wail", and the ever-popular "European".
