Carter Starter

I got to Tanglewood just in time afternoon to catch the seventh of ten Elliott Carter concerts taking place this week, featuring TMC fellows playing the Quintet for Piano and Strings, and the New Fromm Players performing the String Quartet No. 2. Both did well, though the tiny wood shack generously titled the Chamber Music Hall had pretty dead acoustics. At least it gave everyone a chance to get out of the rain…

Having a beer now on the covered porch of the Aaron Copland library, waiting for them to open Ozawa Hall for tonight’s concert by the TMC Orchestra. On the all-Carter bill: Three Occasions, the Concerto for Orchestra and the Cello Concerto, with Fred Sherry.Carter Starter
