Thanks to my office being closed for Good Friday, I'm spending the day with music. At noon, St. Paul's offered a jazz quintet with a singer playing spirituals and Coltrane, in a set labeled "Blues for Good Friday." At 1, an early music duo (flute and vielle) took over, playing music that spanned five centuries. And, at 2, I walked six blocks south to Trinity, where the Trinity Choir sang Tallis, Bach and Pergolesi ("Stabat Mater") to accompany the Veneration of the Cross. And, that's just this afternoon.
