Last night, I caught Seattle expats Das Vibenbass play the early set downstairs at The Delancey, to a mostly-empty room. The foursome played soaring, Coltranesque jazz, with Josh Clifford's extended sax solos, Geoff Larson's driving bass, and JC Bockman's shimmering cymbals and clubbeat drums. But the special sauce were Justin Sorenson's vibes, which he occasionally played with a bow, making them sound like a glass harp. Eerie and ethereal. (More pics below.)
