My first stop this sunny Austin afternoon is the Schuba's/Lincoln Hall party out back of the Yard Dog Gallery on S. Congress. A good crowd of about 300 are packed in and around a tent to hear We Are Scientists play guitar and synth-driven rock. And there's plenty of free beer and bbq to keep this constantly shifting crowd here for at least one set.
Across the street, Guero's has an outdoor picnic area with a (real) stage, which at the moment hosts Denver's The Epilogues, who play with a big, swarming sound not unlike Radiohead. Bonus: an outdoor plug to recharge my phone so I can keep updating y'all.
