Sadly, I only made it to Central Park's Summerstage for the first time yesterday afternoon. And, as you can see from the photo above, I didn't even make it inside. But, I did get to hear a good chunk of Public Enemy's set from just outside the gates, where Chuck D's deep, dominant voice rang out clear as a bell, occasionally interrupted by Flavor Flav's scratchy wail. The seminal rap crew from Long Island tore through a set that offered up guitars, drums, dancers in military fatigues, and some good old-fashioned scratching, courtesy of DJ Lord (who replaced original PE DJ Terminator X in 1999.)
