For me, the official start of summer is always the opening concert at Celebrate Brooklyn, which is always free and always draws a multitude of happy concertgoers. Last night was no exception, as the multi-talented Andrew Bird opened the 32nd edition with a magical 2 hour show featuring his trademark mix of violins, guitars, whisting and singing. The venue – which holds 10,000 – reached capacity not long after 8, with thousands more camped out on the grass outside. The weather was perfect, too: a bit cool, without a hint of rain. Not a bad way to kick off the summer.
