Booker T. Jones Opened Celebrate Brooklyn at Brooklyn Bridge Park

DSC09127Celebrate Brooklyn officially opened last night with a free show down at the new Brooklyn Bridge Park, with a show by Booker T. Jones (of Booker T. and the MG's) groovin'on the Hammond B3 while the sun set straight over the Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor. The crowd was up and dancing to classics such as "Time Is Tight" and "Green Onions," taking breaks to partake of the beer and food carts parked alongside (without a view of the stage, annoyingly.) Too bad it was only 52 degrees out: this place would make for an amazing summer venue. Not that I mind having the main Celebrate Brooklyn venue – at the bandshell in Prospect Park – mere steps from my house.
