Summer festival season is in full swing now, and this weekend Brooklyn’s Northside Festival will be taking over various venues across the borough. Touted as a “discovery festival” and presented by The L Magazine, Northside offers curious culture enthusiasts the chance to scope out the next big things in music, film, art, entrepreneurship and more.
The music portion of the festival will begin this Thursday June 14 and run through Sunday June 17. While the festival couldn’t be more jam-packed with exciting and cool bands from NYC and beyond (about 350 all together), there are a few shows that promise to be true must-sees: Ceremony (Thursday at Warsaw), GZA (Thursday at Music Hall of Williamsburg), These United States (Friday at Knitting Factory), of Montreal and Beach Fossils (Friday at McCarren Park), Asobi Seksu and Exitmusic (Saturday at Brooklyn Bowl), and Ava Luna (Sunday at Muchmore’s).
That is but a very small sampling of what’s on offer, so be sure to check out Northside Festival’s calendar for a full list of happenings. Badges for the entire weekend are available now for $80 (they'll be going up to $95) and offer entry into all music events on a first come, first serve basis along with discounts at local restaurants and bars.
We’ll be at the festival all weekend, so be sure to check back in for updates.
