Montreal Jazz Festival 2012 Wrap Up

For those who didn't make it to this year's Montreal Jazz Festival, here's a quick vid from FIJM founders Alain Simard and André Ménard that sums up nicely everything that took place: from the free shows out on the Place des Arts, to the hundreds of indoor shows featuring the best jazz, blues, rock and soul artists from around the world.

As it was my first time at this particular Montreal festival (see here, here, and here for other Montreal visits), I was fortunate to be able to tag along with WBGO director Amy Niles and afternoon jock Michael Bourne, who've been attending the FIJM for 10 and 20 years, respectively. Michael, in particular, is a fountain of festival knowledge, so much so that he was honored this year by having the press room named after him and by being awarded one of only five festival Life Passes. You can see Michael wearing the pass (along with some interloper) after the jump; you can also listen to his reflections and read his posts on the WBGO blog.
