Well, it's that time of year again. The musical juggernaut that is CMJ is rolling into town next week, complete with thousands of eager young bands crammed into every nook and venue that will have them. I've never done CMJ properly–and this year promises to be a great one–so I'm pretty excited to take on the festival from start to finish.
Needless to say, there's a lot going on, and with so many talented acts spread out across the entire city it's improbable that you'll make it out to all of them. If the official schedule seems a bit overwhelming, I recommend looking at My Social List and Oh My Rockness. Both sites offer comprehensive breakdowns of the marathon and promise to make your week a whole lot easier to navigate.
Plenty of very buzzy and post-buzzy bands are on the agenda, including Flying Lotus at (le) Poisson Rouge on Wednesday, MNDR at Bowery Ballroom on Thursday, Death Grips at Villain on Friday, and even Chromeo and Questlove at the Tribeca Grand on Saturday.
