A fun night of indie, electronica, and old-fashioned soul at Celebrate Brooklyn last night, opening with a high-energy set from The Stepkids. Unfortunately, smooth-singing headliner Jamie Lidell had the deep misfortune of following Dan Deacon, whose sensory overload of electronica and flashing lights whipped the crowd up into a frenzy. If the dance-offs didn’t do it, the Dan Deacon app—causing everyone’s smartphones to flash and beep in sync with the music—certainly did. (See below for clips!)
